Do you mean the Onkyo? They just use the same font as Sony.

Hey Plained, these cost more than the Sony (online prices).

In that price range check out the Ultrasone PRO-900.

I don't like the look of the Ultrasone. I was waiting for your post, though, knowing you're an audiophile; which of those 2 I posted do you think are better?

These are for portable, btw, not to connect to a hi-fi.

Points I've noticed:
• The Denon's have 50mm drivers vs 40mm which may make a significant difference.
• The Onkyo's have an L-shape plug which IMO prevents breakage.

honestly I don't know what is good dts

the only helpful thing I can suggest is to try and take a source you are familiar with ( like your sony Walkman ) to a store and buy the best sounding pair within your budget just close your eyes and buy the ugly ones if they sound good to you

hope that helped

I never heard either of them.

For what it's worth, specs on paper don't mean much. You should either try them or read reviews. I also suggest going with models that well-known and acclaimed in your price range.

Read reviews, eh, ToxicBug? OK, thanks.

I read these 2 reviews:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/onkyo-es- ... nes_review
http://www.trustedreviews.com/denon-ah- ... nes_review
and decided to go with the Onkyo.

Cheap-looking pearlescent plastic and loose fit on the Denons were deal breakers, though of course I considered other things said in the reviews.

For headphones, I'd check out and pay a lot more heed to reviews on head-fi.org vs any other place.

Onkyo ES-HF300

Denon AH-D600

Compare these to:

Shure SRH-840

Ultrasone PRO-900

So of all the possible headphones out there to choose from, DTS chooses two headphones from two companies known for producing hi-fi separates, instead of choosing from companies known for... producing headphones. The Onkyos are apparently pretty good as it happens, but why not add some established brands who are specialists in their field such as sennheiser, beyerdynamic, ultrasone or grado to the shortlist? Plus there'll be more reviews on their products than Onkyo and Denon (Denon, lol) giving you an even better idea of what they sound like. As Toxic Bug mentioned, Head-Fi should be your first port of call before handing over lots of coloured rectangular pieces of paper with the queens face on.

That is true. Fortunately however, a far less expensive mistake than employing Del Trotter's mexican workforce to build an overground pool soon about to disintegrate :olo:
