It's 42k, and I know how it works, hence knowing it's a piss take. Also you don't get taxes at all on the first 9k you earn, 20% on the next 32k then 40% on anything over that 32k until 150k then it's 45% I believe

Government has always been about controlling the general populous and staying in power. I believe Brand is right in that current political systems are, to an extent, broken. Maybe not due to their technical setup, so saying we should adopt communism instead of democracy is a fallacy, but politics in general is drenched in hidden agenda's, corporate interest and self-enrichment.

I'm possibly even more cynical than Russel Brand. I think we're doomed anyway and that there's little hope of changing that any time soon. You can revolt all you like, but the new power will eventually end up not being any better than what you previously got rid of. The "absolute power corrupts absolutely" mantra is too much engrained in human nature.

I do see a ray of light in the populous empowering itself. Technologies like Internet give people power. Take examples like Wikileaks or Edward Snowden. What they did wouldn't have been possible without the Internet. I'm absolutely sure that governments all over the world are worried about this and already we're seeing governments trying to put their own shackles on the Internet.
