if it were that simple... one can argue that an xbox user is more valuable than a steam user... what with the difference in prices of goods and what not.

XBox games may cost more than the average PC game after Steam sales, but the quantity of cheap games probably leads to way more sales in the long run. I doubt XBox Live is enough to give MS an edge, either. Plus the cost of a console is a loss for MS.

I completely agree with you and I also wish they'd focus more on what you're talking about. All I'm saying is that the management side of games dev isn't exactly open minded about such things and - like pretty much anything else in marketing - it's all about "appearances" and customer's perception.

So if you like to use your PS3 as a media extender, you better keep it around. PS4 does not support mediastreaming from your mediaserver, nor can you plug in an USB HDD and play media off that. It also doesn't have MP3 support, so no music for you.

well the only exception is music and videos bought off the Sony Online Store.
