i just downloaded a mod from a site, d mod "area51", what is a mod and how do i use it? 10x in advance for he who helps me

well you normally download it as a .zip.. so you unzip it to ure quake 3 directory (i think) then go into game click on mods and it should be there to load. If not then reply back and i will think of something else, but there should be a read me with it that tells u where to put it and how to use it.

well, i tried to put it in d baseq3 folder but nothing happened

It doesn't belong in your baseq3 but in it's own map instead: cpma goes into path/to/quake/cpma, osp (yuk) into path/to/quake/osp, etc.
