Cannot delete file

I've got this application file on my desktop and I want to get rid of it. It had a virus on it, and my Mcafea deleted what ever it was extracting. So now I want to delete the whole entire thing. But the problem is that I cant because it keeps saying its in use by another program etc etc.

I suspect this file of foul play and it probably does negative actions to my computer. So.. how can I delete this stupid file?

Have you tried rebooting then deleting? That might kill whatever connection it has to another app.

did you open task manager and stop the offending file from processing further THEN deleting? if that doesn't work, best to boot into safe mode.
