Buying a present for yourself this Christmas? Care to share?

Post by Whiskey 7 »

Just thinking it is about 5 weeks to Christmas and I am still thinking of a gift for myself and looking here for ideas.

My other half has bought and wrapped hers from me. Our way of doing this is that I'll open for her gift on the day and she'll open mine; quite a surprise way to do it we figure.

Just that I am having difficulty in nailing my present.

Budget: Up to $500

I would like to get something that might last some time and not depreciate, a collectable of sorts.
While not knocking back a good meal out and expensive champagne, thoughts have turned to something to treasure.

You ideas appreciated :)

Get yourself a $500.00 bond or buy $500.00 worth of stock. If you really aren't sure what you want and you don't need anything. Why piss away $500.00? Besides, $500.00 isn't going to buy you much of anything collectable. Unless you buy stamps or something that takes decades to appreciate. And by the sound of things, you don't have that kind of time. :sly:

scared? : Yes I have too but there is nothing of a surprise left to buy. I think that's because we buy what we like and usually when we like. Sad truth.

plained: Art. Yes that's an idea as I have always fancied a bronze statue or the like. Then got to find the place for it :smirk:

YourGrandpa: Time left? I have all the time in the world :D Bond, no, been there and done that... Collectable still on the tabe then...

losCHUNK: A good set of shoes has merit  I haven't worn a watch since retirement :p Hobbies sounds like a great idea  I might get int RC stuff

Just a thought re collectables.

I searched Millennium Falcon, the old Lego model 10179. I should have bought for $799 some 7 years ago. Now they ask 10 times that

In other words you can't afford to buy yourself anything.

Enjoy the show. Toronto show was awesome, Reznor went all out on this tour.

Rock climbing rope and probably going to replace some of my older worn out gear.

Probably something related to music... I want a damn baritone guitar, but can't decide if acoustic or electric would be more fun.

ey mrd i heard this guys necks are awesome

he did the maths so as these necks just go on regular strats and teles without bridge intonation troubles

i also read that if you buy one, its totally wicked to let him super-do the frets for 25$ more

http://www.ebay.com/sch/d_42/m.html?ite ... 7675.l2562

i am getting one but im in the middle of a short scale tele project atm

None of my guitars have bolt-on necks. Not really a fan of strats or teles either! Cool find though... I would rather just buy another axe. You can never have too many.

Getting close to a decision.

While shopping about I weakened and bought some Blu Rays online
Elysium didn't make the list but Oblivion did and I will wrap them for under the tree.

I am looking at a LEGO MOBILE CRANE MKII - 42009 and it will keep my hands busy if nothing else :olo:

Time lapse construction

I see the original (8053) is near a collectors piece?
