and that's it

The time you waste waiting for your pathetic HDD to load things I bank away for masturbation later.

fair enough. the idea that SSDs improve dynamic (as opposed to initial) load times is so widespread, i assumed it was true. quite surprised to discover it isn't

kind of wondering now how an SSD can improve initial load times on Arma 3, but not make any difference to the dynamic load as you move around the map?

I'm sold with this thing - I will never have another mechanical boot drive again

Don't know about all of that technical mumbo jumbo but i'm extremely pleased with my SSD - it's like giving your pc a shot of adrenalin, everything is just way quicker

Initial loading probably loads much larger amounts of data, and at max speed as well. The streaming is probably hard throttled so it doesn't hurt performance on slower systems.

Forgive me if I haven't figured this out on my own yet, but is it deliberate that every argument on Q3W starts from people arguing about something completely different from one another and never realizing this? Really, I didn't realize until now that this is how things worked around here. :dork:

I don't think anyone can question that SSD's are faster than HDD's for general read/write performance. Seems like the difference in arguments here is on where the price/performance benefit is best spent. Memphis is strictly arguing about in-game performance, and he's right of course. Everyone else is arguing about general application performance for multitasking, starting up applications, boot times, etc. and they're right too.

Not everyone uses their computer for the same purpose, that is why after all we're on PC's and not a stupid console. I suspect Memphis uses his computer strictly for games and to compose colourful insults at people on Q3W, for which an SSD has little impact on his performance to do so. For others who run a multitude of applications, the reverse is true and the impact of an SSD on their system is profound. So maybe everyone can take some time out from shaking their fist at their monitors and actually learn to read.

I'm sorry to have ruined your little dick waving contest here, but know this: I can crush every single one of you under the weight of my giant black penis, so I win.

True.

I never once said anything about games playing better - I said my Windows start up time decreased massively with my SSD. I was then told my upgrade was a waste and I should have spent the money on something else, despite saying it was a gift and therefore I had spent nothing on it. Dunno why Memph was going off on one about scientific testing/benchmarking and the like as it never was a test. I was merely trying to say that the speed of my machine loading with an SSD was stupidly fast compared to when I had my old drive going. So yes, Memphis was arguing about something completely unrelated to my post. You'd have to ask him why.

What kind of moron ever even imagined a ssd drive would improve frame rate? Lol seriously wtf?... Slow load times have always been the biggest bottleneck for pc's...ssd's help with this... Unless ur a pooron...
