Origin

Post by Captain »

For those of you with Origin, check your credentials. I hadn't logged into my account in a month and it turns out some Russians have hacked it and stolen all my games.

Got my account back, but my friends list was wiped out and the rushkis had enjoyed playing on my BF4 Premium account for hours.

EA rep suggested that it was my fault, that I must have a Russian virus or I have no idea how to email. I told him a quick Google search shows there are thousands of people who have been hacked by Russians since Origin first started and my Steam account has never been compromised in 6 years.

EA rep still suggested it was my fault and Origin can't be hacked.

I suggested the EA rep loves cocks in his mouth and hung up.

Everything can be hacked in principle. Still, EA :puke:

Does Origin not implement any kind of two factor authentication? Continually amazes me how casually software companies treat security until it becomes too much of an inconvenience to ignore it. Also, refusing to learn from the experience of other past mistakes made by other people.

I'm pretty sure Origin's idea of security involves keeping accounts and credit cards in a rusty shed with a broken door and a sign that reads "plz do not steal lol" in Cyrillic, not sure though.

I'm pretty sure it's just a text file sitting on the domain root of their web server.

I heard on the radio that a US study turned out that EA, McDonalds and some other company I can't remember are the top 3 most hated companies.

And this wasn't just a consumer study. It included the opinion of their own employees and relations with other businesses.

No real surprise there I guess. It's telling though.
