Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
So too poor to UAV xeros never followed thru?...
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
I've been super busy and haven't had time to even make a purchase. But I plan on getting the X8 from 3DRobotics. All the bells and whistles...

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
I decided to start small so I could get the hang of flying before purchasing something expensive. Better to bust up this little guy than to break a bigger one and spend hundreds on repairs. It's pretty fun and I'm getting the hang of it flying around the house. I'll be ready for the x8 in no time...

what tiny feet!
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
My word, i didn't even notice that... playing with your drone all naked like, fancy that.

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
The drone is a Hubsan x4...
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
That better be your left foot, xeros.
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
Forget the feet, what about the freakishly long fingers? Middle finger is longer than his palm.MKJ wrote:what tiny feet!
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
I noticed the disproportionately small pinky.
Iceman u a freak

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
In defense of my pinky, I think it's bent up to hold the drone up. But thanks for noticing my large hands. Leave it to q3w to nitpick a photo and ignore the topic...

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
and the pic included the whole subject, not part of one blade.
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
Not to hijack but the Spectrum DX6i and Blade Nano CPX came in the mail today. Took a good 90 minutes just to get the fucking thing to take off... lots of manual reading and internet searching but I finally got it in the air and holy shit was it touchy.
Then I got the curves set up and percentages for pitch and aileron lowered down from 100% to 30% and it became manageable (for me, indoors, small-ish room).
So now, I can just about hover. The hardest part is not crashing into the cat's water bowl, which the fucking things tries to fly into no matter where I start it lol :/
Definitely have a lot to grow into with this thing. yay, stuff to do

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
From what I've read, you really shouldn't have to trim much. So going from 100% to 30% makes me wonder if something else is wrong. Did you calibrate on a level surface before trimming? If you did, you can also stick a few sheets of paper under the motor of the direction it is drifting and calibrate again. But you're right, hovering in one place is the first step. Once you have that down, you'll pick up the rest rather quick. Fun stuff.
Edit: Oh nevermind. I just looked and yours is a heli. Probably way different calibration and trim...
Mine is currently on the fritz. It is drifting forward and to the left no matter how much I calibrate and trim. I can't find anything wrong. The shaft looks straight on the front left motor and I even put brand new props on. I dunno...
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
Your transmitter was a good choice...
Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
I meant 100% throw to 30% in elevator and aileron so that it doesn't zip 50ft with the slightest twitch
I should probably turn it down more or just get better with it as it is because before i know it i'm about to hit something, but this is in the house where there isn't much room.

Re: Quadcopters, UAVs, Drones...
flew it outside today in the backyard. definitely tough with restrictions aka fences and not wanting to land in the neighbors yard (which I did). need to try it at a field or something
