reefsurfer's got it right.
If you see through the cheap aliens, you'll discover that the movie is really about the Nietzschean hero and the challenges to that philosophy.

/I'll admit the Scorpion King probably doesn't have any deeper philosophical dilemmas. It was still fun to watch though.
