UT was fun, but the most fun I ever had was just using OldUnreal mod to play custom singleplayer mods. There were some really excellent ones like Xidia Gold, 7 Bullets, and Operation Na Pali.

UT MP was the bomb for me around 1999. My first experience with competitive online gaming.
That feeling of sheer joy insta-gibbing cunts, where you knew someone real was e-suffering at the other end. So good.
So high hopes but to be fair, the nostalgia and association probably muddy my judgment.

UT2004 Onslaught mode was top fun on some of the vanilla maps. sadly few of the custom maps were up to scratch
