Captain...a little more than I wanted to spend for something that won't get too much usage
Re: Nerd times
but Donny, have you forgotten how this place works? you ask 'what [consumer item] do you recommend?' and some numpty will always chime in with the most expensive option they can think of, in order to a) imply they're minted enough to afford [consumer item], and b) are expert about the category of goods to which [consumer item] belongs
tsk, tsk

Re: Nerd times

Re: Nerd times
Cheapest I've found it for is £50 which is about $80...lots more than I wanted to spend. Might just grab those £22 pound jobbies unless someone else has any good options?

Can't be worse than Serious Sam 3...MKJ wrote:also skip SS2. unless you mean TSE. then go for it.

Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.
Re: Nerd times
You tried to read into me suggesting a good $50 gaming headset instead of wasting $20 on a cheap one that will most likely break down in a week.
You're really losing it, old man.

Prolly shit to everyone but They regularly go on sale for under 100 (I think I paid 80 at best buy) and they are fucking awesome.
Wireless is the tits. And unless you're doing 12+ hour gaming the battery lasts plenty for 8 hours +. And they work while charging, So pickup a long ass cable and get some battery if they start to die.
Seriously though, If you're buying a headset for a LAN, buy whatever cheap plantronics one you can find at a local place. Itll be more than enough.

Re: Nerd times
Ok so the LAN was awesome. Proper old school fun. We played L4D2, CS:GO, Dirty Bomb, Minecraft and of course some Quake 3.
Lets get the important bit out of the way - I did own the Quake games - hard. So you don't have to worry, I didn't let the side down.
It was a genuine pleasure to actually play PC games like L4D with mates sat there with you. So much easier to communicate and just good to see the reactions of the other people when shit went down. Then the social aspect of finishing a play through of No Mercy in expert and cracking open a beer or having a smoke and a chat.
Will do it again with more people and I urge anyone who has the chance to attend one to do it and enjoy

No Serious Sam? That's a great co-op game. It will literally make your eyes bleed if you play through to the end though.

We missed quite a few games off that we wanted to play but time didn't not allow - Serious Sam is one of them
