FIFA World Cup 2014

Post by Captain »

Matches start next week. Pulling for Ghana as usual but it would be nice to see Iran make the Round of 16 after their embarrassing 2006 performance.

not sure who'll win. probably easier to eliminate the teams that definitely won't win

starting with England

I'm thinking exit after the first round for Holland. Missing some key players due to injuries (especially Strootman), a new coach, couple of internationally untested players... surviving the first round will be quite the feat.

Destroying Australia should be easy enough, but Spain will crush us. Again. So it kind of depends on what happens with that third match... eh, who knows. Would like to see Brasil vs Holland because that's always an intense spectacle to behold - but yeah, it's not gonna happen :)

In any case, i'm on vacation when this goes down so i'll likely miss the whole fucking thing.

Well Scotland mi... oh wait a minute :owned:

I love my country, but we always think we should do way better than our performances warrant!

no, they haven't.
brazil wins. a euro team has never won when the tournament is played in south/central america. i think dutchies and belgium will likely choke (again), though i'm going to cheer for both. same goes for england.

Dutchos have a decent chance if they can hold off the Chileans. Spain is stacked as usual and Belgium has crushed pretty good teams so far. But yeah, Brazil will probably have all the "luck".

Not sure why you're all discussing it really. We all know England are going to win 6-0 in the final >:(.

England never disappoint.

you're behind the times m8. how can anyone be disappointed in a team that isn't expected to perform well in the first place?

Since when did England fans not expect them to win and instead realise they're actually pretty rubbish?

For the pool at work I have Holland lose to Brazil in the 1/8 final, who then go on to beat ze germans in the final.
