ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Is this gayness starting to rustle anyone else's jimmies or is it just me?
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.
Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
yep. the very second i saw the first video.
Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
what is it? 3 dead so far? evoluton still works.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
ALS is a non-communicable disease which affects 2 in 100,000 people. So, basically, it's fucking ridiculous that it needs "attention" brought to it. It poses no threat, unlike countless other things.
I got challenged so I didn't dump a fucking bucket of ice and water on me, instead I went and donated money to a charity for disadvantaged children in Thailand.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Just to echo what feedback said, when all this first started, I looked up and found a list of diseases sorted by prevalence. MLS is nowhere near the top. Yes the disease sucks and yes it's good to give money to any worthy organization, but there are many, many more diseases that are effecting many more people.
As for the challenge, it's retarded. If you want to donate, then donate. If you want to call someone else out to donate, then just ask them.
If I'm understanding the whole challenge correctly, you dump a bucket on your head and nominate new people to do the same within 24 hours or donate money? So all of these people are dumping water on their heads instead of donating?
Yep, LawL, I guess it's rustling my jimmies...

I believe that's how it started, but the celebrities I've seen do it are dumping ice on their heads and donating to ALS. It's just the poor folk who do one or the other.xer0s wrote: If I'm understanding the whole challenge correctly, you dump a bucket on your head and nominate new people to do the same within 24 hours or donate money? Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
meh.. I did it. It's a bit of fun and my kids thought it was hilarious (so automatically worth it imo)
Dunno where it seems to have swapped over, but in my family/friends circle on facebook everyone is donating to Macmillan Cancer Support rather than ALS... so it's a cause close to us as we have lost family and friends to cancer.
but yeah.. if you want to donate to a cause donate! Also have fun and don't be grouchy bawbags

Don't want to put a damper on you fellows good will but. Last year as an example this foundation gave out only 34% of the money they took in. The rest goes for salaries, expenses and paying professional fund raising companies.
In 2013 they took in 19,690,252.00 and gave out 6,843,097. I think thats about 34%. So about 34 cents of every dollar is actually doing something, the rest is buying big houses, cars, vacations, insurance etc.
The disease is horrific and its good to give but DAMM.
Same can be said for the susan b coleman breast cancer gimmick.

so they raise money in order to pay people to raise them more money
moneyception!
moneyception!
Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Saw one video with a bunch of fucking inbred mother fuckers failing to understand the concepts of mass, gravity and inertia and mostly dropping 100lb buckets of water onto the persons head and knocking them out instead of pouring water on em. Hopefully the brain damage they suffer is less debilitating than ALS.

Saw the Bill Gates one on the TV last night

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
lots of dummies on here that don't understand how charities or viral campaigns work. I dunno why everyone thinks people are just dumping ice on their heads, they're donating too. 50 million this year vs. 2 million in the same time frame. It works.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Problem is, if you silently make a donation, it doesn't bring attention to the charity you're donating to, which is the point of this whole ice bucket thing.seremtan wrote:it's basically a big celebrity reacharound. just donate if you want to donate, fuckwads
You, me and everyone here is talking about it now. I'm pretty sure there's a huge number of people who had never heard of ALS but have heard about it now because of this whole ice bucket thing. It's a bit of playful campaigning, making this thing go viral. It's exactly because of people doing something relatively lame as throwing a bucket of ice over their heads that this thing is spreading.
Whether or not you agree with this foundation and if they spend their money well is a whole different discussion.
