The Walking Dead season 5
The Walking Dead season 5
It's that time again. New season starts october 12. I hope they can keep up the tension of the 2nd half of season 4. Since they're out of the prison things are much more interesting.
Here's the (admittedly rather bland looking) trailer:

Watched the pilot yesterday, b grade indeed yet surprisingly entertaining. Think it's the fast pace of thingsplained wrote: ive been warming up with z nation.

A lot better than the pilot of Gotham, which was really pretty awful.

I"m excited for it, just finished watching through season 4 this week to get up to speed

Re: The Walking Dead season 5
So, great season opener if you ask me! I hope they can bring some bad guys into the mix who aren't inherently evil but simply make some bad choices because they were forced to make a decision. So far, especially with the guv'nor, the good/evil contrast has been too stark. It becomes far more interesting if the bad guys aren't just crazy or something, but simply do what needs to be doen to survive. It's something TTG's Walking Dead game has been very good at. None of the bad guys are truly evil (apart from Carver maybe, which made him rather boring).
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
Curb your enthusiasm people! Not everyone at once!
How disappointing that they're again going for a bad guy that's just totally fucked in the head and for who you have zero sympathy. It's a missed chance.

So far I'm pretty impressed with the start of the season, and yeah, the Reverend definitely has something to hide.
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
I think he has his family and Beth all zombified and locked up in a barn. Eventually he'll be killed, two seasons from now, by a guy with an eye patch.
Oh, wait...

Did anyone else recognize the guy they showed at the end of the first episode?
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
Yeah I think that was the dude who had the walky-talky in season one and who had the whole booby trapped house in season 3 (or 4?)Lieutenant Dan wrote:Did anyone else recognize the guy they showed at the end of the first episode?

Re: The Walking Dead season 5
Yeah, that's who I thought too. I forget how that whole deal with the booby trapped house went down. Was there a confrontation or something?
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
They left him in his house. He didn't want to come with Rick & co.
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
Fuck yeah, now that was an awesome episode. Good to see they got rid of the looneys. I hope Carol's ok though, she turned into one of my fav characters.

Agreed, glad they took care of those cannibals. The ending really leaves the fate of Carol up in the air though, I too was really beginning to like her.
Re: The Walking Dead season 5
Same, over the course of the show she went all the way from completely unlikable whiney cunt to the most insanely hardcore killer of the group. She's most likely fine, just out killing zombies for fun or shanking cannibals through the face something. They way whatshisface said 'you can come out now' suggests it's not her but new survivors maybe? We shall see
Was thinking they should probably have left one of the cannibals alive to see if he'd turn after eating the tainted meat, purely for scientific purposes. Nice cathargic killing scene though, nice how they didn't waste any bullets.
And i'm not sure what to make of the scientist who has the cure storyline yet - i'm hoping it's all bullshit but they lug him around because they need something to hope for in such a bleak & desperate world... He's a bit of a flat character too i feel, doesn't say or do all that much. That marine dude who made his safety his personal mission makes up for that though, he's pretty cool

Re: The Walking Dead season 5
That marine trio annoys the fuck out of me. The Sarge dude is like he came straight out of Aliens or Starship Troopers or some 80's movie with cigar smoking sargeants who shout "You Maggots!" all day. The scientist dude is a stereotype socially inept nerd and Rosita is a stereotype tough Mexican gung ho lesbian.
I think we get to see Beth in terrible shape.

I agree, the nerdy guy that supposedly has a cure for the whole mess is a little hard to believe. Also, they have to expect the trip to D.C to be a huge shit show, as with Atlanta in the first season, any metropolitan area has to be just crawling with the dead.
Yes, I'm interested to see where she ended up, the scenes in the hospital right at the end of the episode have me wondering who picked her up and what they did to her.Eraser wrote:I think we get to see Beth in terrible shape.

Hospital?
Or was that in the preview of the next episode?
