Over 900 arcade games converted to inbrowser emulator
Archive.org, known for .. well archiving the internets, launched a section where they intend to archive old arcade games.
Classics as Pitfall, Arkanoid, Ghouls and Ghosts and Street Fighter 2 are all playable in your browser via javascript.
Tho not all work perfectly yet and a gamepad is recommended for most.
And yes you'd get much better results with MAME or something similar. Nonetheless this is pretty cool.

That's pretty awesome, though I haven't heard of half of those games
.
Speaking of classic games, MMO version of Bomberman is pretty cool.

It needs keyboard controls option.
It shouldn't say "gamepad" either, it should be "arcade stick"

"Acceptable in the '80s": I kept waiting for something unacceptable to happen in that video but it didn't. I am disappointed.PhoeniX wrote:All the good stuff happened in the 80's.

It has kb controls actually.DTS wrote:It needs keyboard controls option.

So it does. Thanks, MKJ. (They should have made it clearer on the page. It has the MAME menu via Tab once the embedded MAME loads the game.)MKJ wrote:It has kb controls actually.DTS wrote:It needs keyboard controls option.

Too bad the sound doesn't work (tried "unmute") - maybe it's cause I have onboard sound only, no soundcard. Also it runs really slow on my PC. Defender is the game I tried.
Also scaling depends on what, graphics card? It's terrible.
Pretty weak considering I can run CPS1-2 and Neo Geo on my PC at full speed with sound with the right emulator and have the graphics look right (some refresh rate issues in a few games notwithstanding).

It's more fun to just build your own cabinet and play these games properly. I built one about 10 years back. 4 player controls with arcade, Atari, Nes, Snes, and Sega Genisis. Over 12,000 games total.
DooMer has one too if I'm not mistaken...
