I fail to see the relevance of this photograph.
Re: test time...
just looks like a picture of 'anywhere in Canada right now'
Re: test time...
Looks pretty cool. Can you fish in that Lake, Kracus?
Re: test time...
Yeah big rainbow trout. Down the river round a bend is reversing falls. A class 5 rapid that reverses every day.
Edit: also that's not a lake.

Except Vancouver, baby! Clear blue skies for the last ~2 weeks straight. I'm about to go for a day long hike. Fuck the rest of Canadaseremtan wrote:just looks like a picture of 'anywhere in Canada right now'

Although this is a pretty fucking weird anomaly... normally it is pissing fucking rain 24/7 this time of the year.
Re: test time...
mid January we had no snow and I was hoping to get my bike out by now.

There's a time to hate, and there's a time to congratulate - that sounds amazing.Κracus wrote:Yeah big rainbow trout. Down the river round a bend is reversing falls. A class 5 rapid that reverses every day.

Re: test time...
Well I hate fishing so I couldn't give 2 shits about gay trout, the reversing rapids and waterfalls sound win tho

Re: test time...
gay trout = rainbow trout?
Re: test time...
There's also striped bass but you have to break the law a bit to fish them Since the area is off limits. We sneak in at night.
Reversing falls is pretty impressive... I think there's only a handful of places on earth that do this. I want to buy a kayak and take advantage of it at some point. I've always been a city dweller but with raising kids we've decided that living on the outskirts with a decent yard and room for them to play was more important.

In other words you couldn't afford to maintain a metropolitan lifestyle.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.
Re: test time...
What the fuck is a reversing rapid, is some sort of tidal shit going on or what?
And a reversing fall too, what? ...i'm thinking that's possibly just a clever system where a large hydrolic platform is raised and lowered daily at set times to provide the water a different direction to fall in. Yeah.

Re: test time...
The tides over here range over 40ft. So during low tide the water is below the level of the river causing very aggressive rapids that are considered falls near the mouth of the saint-john river. Later in the day when the tides change they rise so high that the bay of fundy, which is connected to the atlantic ocean rises higher than the river causing the flow of water to change, along with the rapids to go up the river. The change is so drastic that there's killer whirlpools, rapids and falls going both directions depending on where the tide is at. It's a pretty rare phenomenon from what I've been told.Ryoki wrote:What the fuck is a reversing rapid, is some sort of tidal shit going on or what?

During WW2 a german U boat tried to go up the saint-john river not knowing about this little fact and noped the fuck out of here and never came back. Although I've heard that story from some old people from Saint-John I've never really found much documentation on it. The rapids really are dangerous though, nothing goes through it when it's peaking.
Re: test time...
Next time I'm near the falls I'll take some pics.
Re: test time...
Interesting. Take a vid while you're at it

Re: test time...
Bay of Fundy has the largest tidal variance in the world, aye? 53ft? Madness.
Re: test time...
Aye !, Newport comes in a close 2nd at 47 ft.
