Indeed - first episode this season that was really tense. Good stuff.

Quite liked the combination of Dragon Lady and Imp as well, they might just make a winning team

Nice to see the much-vaunted Valyrian steel finally doing its job too.

This episode was much better put together than the last few. I suspect they let the interns take the reigns mid-season before bringing their "A" team back for the last few episodes. Direction, camera-work and writing were noticeably higher quality.
And we finally got to see the danger that Winter represents. Now Jon's just got to convince those bickering Southerners.

Aside from some lingering threads (mainly Cersei & Margaery's stories), we're pretty much completely in new territory for book readers now too. Not sure I can see myself having the patience to continue with the books now.
It's not like The Walking Dead, where things are just different enough to keep me reading and watching.

Yeah, I expected to see the dragon swoop in and save them, but was surprised to see her hop on it.

And yeah, Stanis is hardcore...

She would have burnt up Snow and Gendry in a snap if she had the chance though.

I wonder if all the feminazis who were up in hairy armpits from Sansa's first time are going to stay quiet this week.

Quite, she'd become one of my favourite characters, I was convinced he wouldn't go through with it.

I hope Ramsey peels him now. What a bellend.

Oh my word...that was amazing and yet heart braking. Stannis, yew dun gorn fucked up!

Dragon ownage - saw that coming. Didn't see the husband to be being stabbed coming though - I thought Daario might have had that pleasure. Felt bad that Rhaegal was being hurt though....oh and the burning horse :(

Fucking BAM though. Standard GoT ownage at the end of the season.

Well that further reinforces my feeling that Melisandre's not serving the "Lord of Light" as she thinks.

Regarding Benjen, in the books there was a strong hint that Bran's guide north of the wall (who didn't appear in the TV series) was the undead Benjen.
I think that's fairly safe and spoiler free, as they've proved that the story really didn't need that character, and all of his roles have been filled by others.
Another victim of somewhat necessary creative trimming.
