Just to put a fine point on it for you, what you did was wrong. No ifs, ands or buts. I don't care what you think about it. I have zero respect for people that steal. Knowing that you took someone's money for an account, and gave them nothing, I would never group with you, be in a guild with you or trust you with anything in game. Ever. If I was an officer of a guild you were in, I'd have you kicked.

I've never used a torrent, I've never dl'd music, movies or anything else I didn't pay for. Am I better than you? Nope. However, my word is good. When I tell someone I will do something, there's no question it will be done. I value the trust others have in me. I earned it.

I've been a respected member of many guilds on all of my characters. I've been an officer, a co-GM, and I'm currently a site admin with soap. What reason would I have to rip someone off in-game? Not only does Blizzard have safe-guards against it but its just some lame item. I didn't sit down and say "ok lets go steal some dudes cash" and I haven't repeated my actions since. I started off me being curious whether I could still log in. He hadn't even changed the password since I reset it for him. Once I logged in I noticed the dude hadn't even used the account in two months so I just started playing again and transfered back to my server. Sure, I should refund him. I could refund him. But tough shit. He gave up. He never contacted me once.

I've read all four pages now and my opinion of bit has gotten worse.

And the 'but everyone else is doing it too' excuse is the first and last resort of an immature kid. So yea, I guess all you can do is shrug it off to immaturity and hope he grows out of it or doesn't give into temptations when it comes to real-world business dealings. Hopefully we won't see your name (if you still go by bitwise ) involved in some big SEC investigation years down the road bit and think "and to think, I remember when he got his start by fucking his fellow WoW players...now he's all grown up"


For what its worth, I'd give the guy his money back if I were you to balance out my karma. It's naive to think you can really know much about a person's true character based on their internet forum behavior, but I really did think you were a stand-up guy bit.

The first half of that about the SEC stuff was a joke soap.

The last half was just me saying that I figured bit to be a better guy than the type that would rip someone for that much cash regardless of the situation.
