Then the Bill O'Reilly and the noise machine got to work.
Do you guys even know why America bashes France? Besides just the plain fact that their french?
I thought not.

I always thought how ungrateful French were to the Americans about stepping in and saving their ass from Germany, was one of the main reasons? No?GONNAFISTYA wrote:The only true reason why France has been a target of American hatred is because they stood up Powell in a meeting regarding the Iraq war.

I have yet to see anyone cite reasons why the US hates the french. All they do is say "we hate the french" but don't seem to know why.EtUL wrote:oh come on, everyone hates the french. just like everyone hates us.

I've always been under the impression that ze Fronch are arrogant plicks and don't like Americans, especially tourists. Yeah, there's the 'we saved yore asses in dubya dubya eye eye' thing, but that doesn't really hold much water with me. I think the two items combined form the general American dislike of the French. I don't have anything against them personally, but then again I know what the French resistance did in WWII.ek wrote: I always thought how ungrateful French were to the Americans about stepping in and saving their ass from Germany, was one of the main reasons? Ze Germans are currently the country with the most anti-American sentiment, by far. You'll get evil eyes if they hear you speaking in public and some people will call you out right on the street about Bush/Iraq/whatever. It has nothing to do with speaking english or any other reason other than "you sound American". I get that alot in Germany because...well...Canadians and Americans sound alike (almost half of the Major television networks in the US use Canadians as their news anchor).Nightshade wrote:

Just to clarify this: I'm talking about RECENT reasons for hating France (within the last 5 years). The American press has had a field day bashing France since then but there aren't any truly compelling reasons the US media (or anyone else) have given on the record as to why everyone should hate France. Do a search for Bill O'Rielly/France and you'll find a goldmine of stupid reasons to bitch about the "Mah children need wine" country.GONNAFISTYA wrote:I have yet to see anyone cite reasons why the US hates the french. I see. So French and German people are just as stupid as Americans. Got it.GONNAFISTYA wrote: Ze Germans are currently the country with the most anti-American sentiment, by far. No lie: once I tell them I'm Canadian their faces and pissed-at-you approach does a 180. It's the exact same thing in Spain as well.
French people hate Americans because of the same reasons as anyone else but they're no worse than Denmark or bloody fuckin England for not being friendly to ze yanks.
I think the steaming anti-American sentiment in Germany probably has alot to do with WWII and having a shitload of American military bases on their land...especially when the yanks have been doing the same things their government was doing under Hitler. I think it's that hypocrisy thing that the Germans hate the most.
so the rumours are true. germans really are a nation of mongoloid fucktardsGONNAFISTYA wrote:Ze Germans are currently the country with the most anti-American sentiment, by far.
