What makes me a redneck?

Just a curious question.

Since the term redneck originated in the southern United States and is used to describe someone of southern descent. I think that I'm well versed on the true definition, since I've lived in the southern US most of my life.

The label of redneck is of couse based on multiple stereotypes and is not considered a racist term. Even though it is typically used to describe a white person. (But that's ok, white people can't be the subject of racisim). To my best recollection a "Redneck" will have many, if not all of the following attributes.

They hunt, camp, fish, go four wheeling, trail riding, mudding and line dancing. They like country music, pit bulls, big belt buckles, big 4 wheel drive trucks with gun racks and bass boats. They wear tight Wrangler jeans, belts with their names on them and cowboy boots. They live outside the city limits, usually in trailers and can't hold down a job. They don't have much of an education, make much money and drink there incomes away. They don't like people of other races or people who speak out against america. They adorn their abodes with Rebel flags, pictures of dogs shooting pool and the infamous velvet Elvis. This list could go on, but I think you get the point.

Me?

I've never been hunting. I don't go camping, four wheeling, trail riding, mudding or line dancing, but I have participated on the rare occasion. I'm not a fan of country music, though I'll listen to some. I've never owened a pit bull, big belt buckle, big 4x4 truck, gun rack or cowboy boots. I live inside the city limits, in a house and have a good job. I've got a college education and make good money. Howerver, I can thow back a Budweiser with the best of them. I don't hate any race and believe in free speach, no matter what the subject. And I've never owned a Rebel flag or any of the other silly pictures.

My question has been posed...

I like to hunt, camp, fish, go four wheeling, mudding (I have a 1982 CJ7). I hate line dancing and country music. I hate pit bulls. They're ugly, dumb, and can be vicious. That's more of a white trash dog than a redneck dog anyways. I sure as hell don't wear belt buckles. I don't have a big 4 wheel drive truck, just a regular cab F-150. Unless you count the farm truck, which is 4 wheel drive and does have a gun rack (I think the 220 Swift is up there right now). I do have a bass boat (if you fish, why not?) I've never owned a pair of Wrangler jeans or cowboy boots. I live outside city limits in a 2600 sq feet house and own about 1000 acres around the house. I'm about to graduate college and will be making damn good money. I like to drink and have a good time, but I'm not an idiot about it. I'm not racist at all. I have no problem with black people, but I hate niggers (there is a difference). I don't have a rebel flag, a picture of dogs playing pool, or any Elvis memorabilia.

I think that about covers everything that YourGrandpa mentioned. If that makes me a redneck, then so be it. I couldn't care less what a bunch of people on a fuckin message board think about me...

I don't dress for fashion or to try to pull some tough guy act; its simply jeans, t-shirts, boots, and a leather jacket when I'm not working onsite. All of those are pretty plain and practical clothes so if you get intimidated by that it sounds like you've got some issues . Nice try at dodging my questions btw.

Of course you read it Puff, you wouldn't have responded otherwise. Here's a little tidbit of information for you though and its pretty mindblowing...tattoos aren't just in the skin of criminals and sailors anymore. I know it may be hard for you to grasp but countless millions of people from all cultures and backgrounds enjoy tattoos as a form of art just like others may enjoy paintings or music. Sure I've got a few pieces done but the only one thats even partially visible is at the t-shirt line on my left arm. If I was a "poser" or "wannabe tough guy" as you stated they would be traditional images like skulls, dragons, naked women, etc in highly visible places like the forearms and neck rather than pieces like my kids handprints or the one my brother and I got last fall (and he's a pastor, not a gangbanger *gasp*) which aren't even visible while wearing a t-shirt. Its hilarious to watch you calling Gramps dumb then posting drivel like this.

So is there another off topic comment or are you ready to answer why owning a firearm makes someone a redneck? Your move.
