Anyway its been proven that most species have homosexual members. Monkeys, sheep, elephants, hippos, even those fucking penguins.

That doesn't have anything to do with homosexuality. There are many factors that affect population growth, and spontaneous sterility may well be one, but being sterile has nothing to do with being gay.
Homosexuality in animals typically occurs in populations where the sexes are dispropotionate or otherwise isolated. If you have a cage of only males, or only females, they'll attempt to mate because they try to fulfill an innate urge. Females will try mounting other females, even though they don't have dicks, just because they're all in heat at once and that's what they know is supposed to happen when you're in heat.
