FWIW the hyperblaster inflicts a similar level of damage.. something like 175 per second... if you can hit every round.. But with no spin-up time this makes the HB potentially more deadly at close range.

I think in the long-term they'll prove to be unbalanced as you've stated, but it's not yet become an obvious issue. I dont think many people are getting the FPS to be able to track at close range properly either.

in the old days mods were new gametypes and the like, not that subtle changes to make it more like x-game-crap >:E

This is a much wider issue and I could/would like to debate it at length in another thread.

It's due to a large number of factors - increasing fragmentation in the gaming community, increased numbers of would-be modmakers now gainfully employed in the industry, low return on investment in terms of the attention mods receive (again, high fragmentation).

The list goes on.

oh don't get me wrong - i'm not arguing that there is an imbalance. I'm just trying to imagine the potentials and tactics of the weapons...

hmmm 219 q4max servers, 4 x-battle, in US that is...seems like everyone's mind is made up.

Yeah there is only one league using xbattle I believe, clanbase eurocup, and they may change come next q4max release.

nope, there are 3 leagues using xbattle: CB, ESL, Giga
and q4max only 2: GGL, CPL

about the servers: its the opposite in europe.

i figured as much.

i'm not sold on which is best but it seems NA server admins have taken it upon themselves to speak for the NA playerbase and followed the CPL when most of us haven't had a chance to sample both mods.

Word is that the strogg skin in xbattle isnt as visible.

Either way the next release from both should show whats up. I predict a december 9th release for q4max. 1 Week before the winter cpl tourney correct?
