He does have the experience to know it will be hard enough to fill
the one server.

But you know what? I have a great idea.

You go out and get 3 more servers.
Setup the 3 servers with what ever you'd like as far as Q3.
Put alot of time into setting them up now. Don't have-ass it and just
put up a server and not have a clue on how to run them.
Put your heart into them. Put YOUR money into them.

THEN SEE JUST HOW IT SNOWBALLS.

OVER the YEARS, donate q3 servers. Among other servers.
We know very well first-hand how it goes down. Dzjepp is trying
to explain that in the least amount of words. On the other hand

Unless you are willing to shell out the money for 3 more servers?

no hard feelings to jb of course - i think a lot of us know how this community runs and have seen over the years, it would certainly be a difficult thing to fill up a q3 server at this stage of the game, with people that read this web site. but that's not to say it can't happen ya know? perhaps getting some nice games on one server would be cool to see, but even then that's pushing it. you know, 2-3 years ago there would be a LOT of people that would show interest in playing, but these days most of them have moved on.

but you know what? it's not entirely impossible to do something similar to what you suggested. running multiple gametypes? cpma, what kyd wants to run supports on-the-fly rule changes, so one server can do ctf/1v1/tdm whatever, i guess if people where so inclined to play something different they can always call vote it. jeez, i think i type too much as well

There were only three of us tonight which wasn't enough for Clan Arena. We played about two hours worth of 1v1 DM. Dust off those copies of Q3 you have lying around! I promise we'll take it easy on you. :icon4:

Oh my god! I remember that.

GOOD times they were!

That probably was when I had my son and daughter playing on their
systems as well as myself playing.

It was for my daughter since she was like 11 to 12 years old.
I was showing her what Dad was playing because she was curious
of all the laughing and what-not I would do while playing on ax's.

There were six of us on the server tonight! A new record! We played a little TDM and 1v1 for awhile. Not many Q3W people showing up though.

i got told earlier that over 90% of the posting population arent playing Q3 anymore

Not many of us usually play on the weekend. I hope to see some Q3W folks Monday around 9 P.M EST.

And apparently it's true. Most of us don't. Doesn't mean there won't be renewed interest, but I wouldn't count on a lot of it.

Most games here were scheduled in the last few years anyway. Either that or a thread in GD calling people cocksuckers while inviting them for a game.
