That's not it. Many older video cards don't support >256x256 textures.

Uhrm, you must be refering to very old cards then, 'cause quake3 itself has stock textures that are > 256² too.

Yep. Cards with that limitation haven't been manufactured in the last four or five years.

No i'm not putting it in fcp thorn. It was an exercise of boredom. Tiling shitty stuff helps call my nerve. And it's only basetex 200% anyway.

Something very sad happened. My computer broke. :tear:
A few transistors leaked.
It looks like i have to play in the park for a while. Like the sane and healthy children...

Don't forget to take a digicam with you when you're out there. There may be kick-ass textures lurking just around the corner!

But don't get me wrong, pal - this is not a suggestion to post 512x512 images of tileable dog poo in here. ;-)

Still beating the dead horse huh? He abandoned it in April 06. I heard you wanted to 'take it over' and such, but feeling unsatisfied of having a hurt ego, you blocked him and also didn't respond since. I think it's going great and I don't see any of the sexualized furry fantasy stuff you exagerrate with. I imagine if it were under anyone else's lead, it'd use recycled polycount models and LDA weapon models like every other damn newbie's quake3 mod on earth.
Foo wrote:Anyway, rant over. If it benefits you to know, the GPL can be used for code while CC licensing is used for Media alongside the code, and they're compatable. That is to say, you can license under CC and have that media available for use within a GPL project.
The CC is not a Free license, especially with the Debian Free Software Guidelines. Read up on gnu.org for more info about how evil it is.

You can use GPL for media fine. In this case, the binaries are TGAs/PNGs/WAVs/OGGs/JPGs/BSPs and so on, and the source is PSDs/XCFs/MIDs/ITs/XMs/S3Ms/MODs/MAPs/BLENDs and so on. It doesn't take a genius to define what source is. It's not restricted to code.

On broar, we didn't accept his texture pack because of deriving from copyrighted sources. Over on the OA board he claimed it's from scratch of hi-res images, but I guess this quote takes the cake and ends it all:
broar wrote:Ermm, ...
The most textures are besed on "notsogood" free digital image reference i found in the web.
Kinda hard to gain any trustworthyness from that if the 'original textures' are made from scavenged material from the internet.

I left the OA forums because of your openmindedness, now you're showing up here trying to enerve us again?

Pease stfu about this texture pack. I'm so sick of this crap.

Everybody who wants to know what was claimed, what was "scavenged from the internet", what happened and why I'm pissed off should maybe simply > check out the thread at the Ostarena forums <.

Hint: it's not because some guys don't want some textures.

Sorry for my language in this post but I mean it.

Yes, you were. The thread was back on track, and now seems to be drifting into drama-land again.

You've had your say. You've responded to Foo's remarks, you've linked to your thread. You've been asked (relatively) nicely to let it go.

Let it go.

This thread is about broar's texturepack, not about drama and licencing semantics. (This applies to everyone, not just leilei--leave it elsewhere, or take it to The Void.)

I think we're both at least digging this texture pack.
