Quite often. Especially with another one due in 3 weeks or so.

I'm going to try to document my Irish citizenship by summertime, so I've got a place to take my family if martial law breaks out Bush declares himself king for "continuation of government" after another "terrorist attack" on our soil. I need my mom's birth certificate, her marriage license, and my birth certificate. I don't know if she'll be willing to give those documents up or not, however.
if you do get those documents would you be willing to adopt me?

I highly doubt she will when she sees you show up at her door with that tinfoil hat.
FFS, are you serious?

How about becoming one of those folks that handles things at an election office..? Would that be easy to do? You could at least make sure that the stuff in that youtube clip wouldn't happen at your election place..

I don't know what else you could do that makes a difference either, tbh. :\

Yea a big cop out. You know fuckall about the actual decision or the thoughts and considerations that have gone into it. We both want kids. And I'm sure we'll have them. But that won't change the fact that I'll still be concerned about the world they are coming into. My point is that the world is, in the opinion of many, it a state of fuckup that it hasn't seen in some time - and a place where some real tough realities may set in if things don't change real quick - and it maybe to late to fix anything in some situations. I hope that things end up better than predicted. That being the case, one can't help but worry a bit about what their own kids will have to face, regardless of how much optimism you have in the future or their ability to fix it. I guess I just need more faith in God to keep everything in order.

Gramps knows though. I'll take that advice to heart.
I wouldn't take gwamps thoughts to heart. He has a son and bought a Hummer. Shows you his foresight right there.

Yes tnf I think you have very genuine concerns.

Never mind the economy, or world affairs. I suggest if you have a kid keep him in a padded suit, wearing a helmet, don't let him ride a bike or drive a car or anything else dangerous, something could happen and he would die. Not to mention all the diseases or birth defect he might have. You don't want to be stuck taking care of a retard for the rest of your life. Gotta watch out for the bird flu also. :olo:

I am surprised that so many of you are willing to be so passive on this subject, kind of socking really.

Being concerned about one's offspring's future is normal but the decision to simply not have them at all based on that is a pathetic proposition for mankind's future...I know it sounds like a cheap promotion but it's the truth.

Now there might be other reasons not to have kids but basing it on this is unacceptable IMO.

LOL

This is exaclty why I said that using the world is a terrible place excuse for not having children is a cop out. There are so many other things to consider. The main thing being, are you ready for children. If you're still factoring the state of the world into this decision, you're not ready. End of Story.

The thing is that intelligent, educated, reasonable people need to have more children, to counter the stupid and uneducated masses who breed like rabbits, and whose children are likely to grow up and become just as fucking stupid as their parents.

So, for the sake of humanity, please have children.

banning abortion is yet another weapon against human kind's better interests...what's better than an unplanned pregnancy which has a greater chance to produce yet another burden to society? More improperly raised children = more idiot masses to ride on.

What would you know about children? I'd bet that considering a child has never crossed your mind. Hell, you still need to figure out how to get a woman to fuck you. :olo:

I'll tell you this. I only have one child. I was married and had a stable life when he was conceived. I never needed food stamps, WICK or free lunch programs. My son has never or will never need for anything.... But don't listen to me.

BTW, my Hummer gets better gas milage than most trucks on the road, dip shit.

Gramps, you're an improvement over your lot, but not by very much.

i don't really see the "OMG! voter fraud" claim in that.
all over, the parties have shit record keeping.
same thing happened to my lady in 2004 when she switched from independent to democrat to vote in the primary. we got there and she wasn't on the roll, so didn't get to vote.

Did you catch the part where the women at the board of elections claimed that the voter rolls were showing up at the polling locations with "lots of errors"? Where she was also alleged to have said that "there was definitely something going on with the election"?

You miss the point about your son needing for anything. That isn't my point. I was merely pointing out that, for example, we may be looking at wars over water in our children's lifetimes. We may be looking at all sorts of really bad shit. When you look at the potential worst-case scenarios (and I know that these aren't guaranteed to happen), the world doesn't look like it will be an extremely enjoyable place to live in 50 or 60 years. Or maybe less. I know its probably overly pessimistic, but its a thought that enters the mind nonetheless. We'll have kids, and I will worry about what they may face at some point due to the state the world may find itself in - that has nothing to do with my being unwilling to deal with the typical risks we all face every day of our life. Because humanity has a great record of dealing with things before they become a huge problem.
Its not about having the material wealth to never want for anything.

But kudos for having only one child. At least you aren't contributing to the burgeoning population.

Again, missing the point. And besides, with the rate at which you rack up live points it seems like you live a pretty risk-free life yourself.
