My powerbook has all the same functionality packed in 2 kg. (plus 5 hours of battery life)

The 17" powerbook is 3.1 kg I think, but yeah, it's probably 1500 quid.brisk wrote:I was seriously considering a mac for the longest time, and rest assured if i bought one, there would be similar spec spam copied straight from the apple website
I paid £1250 for it, which is less than the RRP of £1400 I believe. There are better spec laptops out there, but very few have a screen that competes with this. Its just a joy to behold (and my first LCD screen too)
I wanted an ultraportable cause it's easier to bring with you. What's the purpose if need a lorry to carry your laptop aroundbrisk wrote:Yeah, i'd like an ultra-portable laptop too, but I can't really justify spending cash on something that I wouldn't really find much use for. I got this 17" model because its big enough to use for the creative apps, and also rocks it for the games. I guess the only use i'd make for a 12" model would be to show my work at uni or to clients. But looks wise, I still prefer the powermacs. They're the epitome of sleek and sexy.
I'm sitting with the 12" on my balcony now, enjoying a beer and the sun :icon31:brisk wrote:Yeh dave, thats the beauty of a laptop. Last night at around midnight, I just popped open the laptop and got down to some serious music production. No wires, no fuss, just pure joy.
I just ordered a Linksys Wireless-G 54mbps Broadband Router too, which will mean I can connect to my computer/connection wirelessly without having to leave my bed. Slackers paradise for sure.
Heh, i'm gonna buy a nice leather bag for this. Its not too bad, I carry much heavier stuff to uni everyday, so portability isn't gonna be an issue. I'd be more worried of some opportunist cunt trying to steal it though, but since its quite heavy, they wouldn't get farsaturn wrote:I wanted an ultraportable cause it's easier to bring with you. It's perfect for browsing, music, wordprocessing, presentations (the docs at the hospital will watch my presentations in awe). If I want to work with a bigger screen I still have my desktop PC.
The only thing that's really lacking for mac is games support, but I only play games on my xbox anyway. (I have Q3 arena for the mac though)
