Now I will say that there needs to be better color seperation of the existing skins for team play, but anything more drastic than the Q3 traditional red and blue is just a cheat.

Ok, so perhaps it's a cheat that a segment of the community accepts, but it's a cheat. A rose by any other name....
Couldn't agree more. Hopefully PB will allow for control of the range of vars on a server like it did in Q3 so admins can decide.

@ Screenshot above: still sucks balls. The author took bright 'skin' too literal!! :icon27: :icon13: Bah, trash the stupid plastic soldier and make a proper skin that makes only the armor green. If the skins that were in the first release are still available in this release i wouldn't really mind though, but refuse to fight plastic soldiers.

Haha, no way guys, that skin up in that screenie is perfect. It's how green keel looked, easily picked out from the backgrounds.

Keel did not look like that. The pm skins were actual skins, these are just glowing matrix freaks.

I would be down for something with a little more vairation, aka not one solid color, but only if it was still super dayglow :D Just my preference, I like to see neon bodies running around the map so I can rail them in the ass with ease.

Found it in my FF history. :) Drexciyian posted these screenies at ESR:

I wouldn't use this though.

Green Keel had green armor; he wasn't made of glow in the dark rubber like the dildo's of people that like this.

hey come on now don't hate on dildos!

seriously though, not to offend anyone, but I have found in my observations that the more pro ppl are the more they want glowskins, and the ppl who are the most against them tend to be the hide in the corner noobies.

ffs, let's not get pedantic, it doesn't matter if it's not exactly like keel, it's still bright and easily seen. Which is far better than the shitty colour the models are at the moment.

It's beginning, 6th server down. Q4max started up as soon as I clicked join. Couldn't connect though, said I'm missing some files. No idea what though.

Most likely hotmail's spam filter. Hotmail sucks.

While I get that in the end it's all about visibility and not good looks, there is a huge difference between these ugly q4max skins and the CPMA pmskins.

In the pmskins only the armor was colored. The joints and skin aren't colored. That makes things slightly more natural looking. These plastic toy soldiers look like the author just either didn't have a clue what he was doing or couldn't be arsed to make proper skins and just wanted two minutes of fame by being the first to make brighter skins.

We need proper brightskins, that is just a crappy 5 minute hack job.

PM skins require a hack in the code to work and the SDK hasn't been released yet. Having said that, the skins are fugly, yes, but effective.

The code change is only required to make the color adaptable. I don't think the color for the brightskin is adaptable in Q4Max, or is it? And I'm not talking about 10 different color sets, but a variably settable color.

In the alpha 0.3 release of Q4max they included the different original textures but with a green hue all over. In the current version there is no texture, but just an entirely green 1024x1024 square. :dork: So the texturing part of Q4max is a 2 second job rather than a 5 minute job.

Maybe some of the other 'hacks' that are included are more useful but if they aren't, i'm forgetting about this 'mod'.
