TBH I think they fall a bit under the radar. I've found no google hits for q3xs1 and q3hockey I can't see a download link... Plus I've never come across them on pubs?

Or is this for defrag?
aye, i mostly visit custom servers and even though these maps might be in there, they don't get heavy rotation. don't bother.

I've seen them played quite frequently on ctf servers... maybe not across the pond.

It's called q3wxs1, and yeah it sucks. tbh you could remove a lot of those mods :/

Sucky or not, the mods on that list are the ones that are currently getting server play time.

Yer, you're right. That one is pretty low on the list.

Now trying to decide what different versions of this pack would be useful.

So far I've got:
Core - Bare min for most online players. OSP, ztn, hub, latest patch.
Online - As above with CPMA, Threewave, Urban Terror, Freeze, RA3.
Best Of - As above plus offline mods (Defrag, Fortress, Akimbo
Complete - Every goddamned thing I can find.

But it goes under a different PK3 name in the threewave packs.

why not have an installer that allows you to choose what you want and what you don't want?

The difference in size between the core and complete versions would be somewhere in the order of 30Gb

and?

no-one plays japanc.pk3, they play q3wcp1 thus rendering the original useless.

Do an installer that lets you select between core and best of. Complete could be left off as a seperate entity.

Eh, people here haven't ventured out into modspace much, have they? Here are more:
  • Western Quake III. It's a bit of a moving target since development is ongoing. However, there is an older version that was made by a different team than the current one.
  • Weapons Factory Arena. How the hell did you forget about this one!? IIRC, it was somewhat popular at one time (I even played it a bit then).
  • Navy Seals: Covert Ops.
  • True Combat.
  • The Dark Conjunction. Looks so disgusting that I've never tried it. It's still a part of Q3 history, regardless.
  • Urban Terror 1.27 and 2.6 (the last 2.x release, IIRC).

It's not that they where forgotten by anyone here, it's just that those mods have no servers. IIRC true combat and western quake have about 20 servers together, maybe those 2 could make it, but the others have none or just 1 server each.

You know, there are even more quake 3 mods that could be added, if you wanted to add them all then we would be missing quite a few dozen still, but those other mods don't have any servers and prolly never had any.

But I'm sure if Foo is going to cover all bases for the complete package, then he will add them all, regardless of how many servers they have.

Er, he's including "offline" mods as well with the "Best of." Besides, popularity is not indicative of quality. :p

Really, it's not feasible to put together something "robust enough for just about any server," anyways. There are some servers running old versions of mods, some running very old Point Releases, some with loads of 3rd-party maps in rotation, etc.
