Great. Memo to McCain Campaign: Someone is either a terrorist sympathizer or he isn't; someone is either disqualified as a terrorist sympathizer or he's qualified for public office. You helped portray Obama as a clealy qualified presidential candidate who would fight terrorists.

With due respect, I think tonight was a disaster for our side. I'm dumbfounded that no one else seems to think so. Obama did everything he needed to do, McCain did nothing he needed to do. What am I missing?

Speaking as a completely non-political citizen (this is the 2nd debate I've ever watched), I thought Obama came off hopeful, yet realistic, and McCain came across self-serving and dishonest.

I may have been persuaded by the little media I've read about the two, but I feel more likely to trust Obama than McCain. And since both claim they want to help me, that perception of trust is really what matters, yes?

They're both going to butter your cornhole and fuck you raw, make no mistake.

Well I have gone outside and pulled up my Mcain/Palin sign. This election is over. I will vote for Mcain but I know that come Nov. 5 Obama will be our president-elect.

I feel sorry for Sarah Palin. A once promising career will be permanently connected to the landside loss of John McCain.

I weep for my children and their families.

McCain's obvious disdain for Obama is a byproduct of his strong sense of entitlement.

Well, they *did* shake hands, and had a tentative, awkward long distance hug directly after the debate, but it was off camera for CNN and NBC, see? Only ABC showed it.

Later McCain pulled a little 'gotcha' by tapping Obama on the shoulder and shying away with his right arm firmly down like the sad little man he is, though.


I've watched the previous pres and vicepres debates, but couldn't make myself watch this one.
Pretty much all has been said and done, IMO.

This is the first time I've heard him lay out his various plans in detail, where he would cut, where he would boost, etc and the guy was realistic about it.

McCain looked like a guy locked in talking point land and repeated numerous times the old standbys he'd memorized (Jon Stewart did a masterful job of preempting everything McCain would repeat from his recent "stump speech") and seemed determined to contradict his "high road" path by sticking a jab in with every single answer. And it was clear from Obama's blinking and rough voice at the start of his answer to the "Ayers" issue he was pissed off at McCain for being a pussy and repeating lies. And I giggled during Obama's open laughter at McCain's claim that,"My campaign isn't about smear."

It's more than clear who belongs in the chair come November.
