Yeah man, when I was young, about 5 years old or so, my parents house got burgled by teenagers. They stole all our prized Rebel flags and crocodile trohpy's. Then a few weeks ago, a guy I work with watched a TV show where a house was broken into...

Really scary stuff. You never know when you're going to need a gun to defend your home, wife, kids and a pristine bottle of Kentucky Bourbon...

My home has been robbed three times. Usually they have the decency of doing this WHEN NOBODY IS HOME. That way they can get your guns...

I work in bear country and I have a shotgun that I carry--a nickel plated Fabarms SDASS Trainer. I put a Knoxx recoil reducing stock on it, which can adjust to whomever has to carry it, and called it a day. I hope to never have to shoot it in the field.

That would be burglary, not robbery.

Who here has actually been robbed while still in their home at either knife or gunpoint? And if so, did you own a gun at the time and/or do you own one now? Regardless, it's got to be unnerving to know someone has been in your house, a place you should be able to consider safe, without your knowledge or consent...

Also, it sounds like you should fucking move, Bilirubin. ;)

What about an alarm system? I don't know your locale but if an alarm won't be heard (isolated home) you could always set a man trap :sly: but don't catch yourself. That would be embarrassing.

Shit even video surveillance has to help :smirk:

Why the hell do people do anything? Why do people buy nice clothes, buy the best TV or soundsystem? Why do nerds make case mods, or paint their houses ugly colors? Because they have an interest in it, and they can.

Yes my home was burgled (break/enter/steal) once. I was really pissed off >:( >:(

I suggested to the cops (I was a Prison Officer way back then) that I would set a man trap >:)

Yes I had some devilish ideas to test on the mongrels and none too sexy.

Now, funny enough, the coppers (cops) said they had come across this sort of thinking before. Obviously they deal with this sort of shit all the time. They commented, build one if you like but chances are you'll trap (even kill) yourself or some poor innocent bastard in the wrong place at the wrong time :tard:

PS Mantraps may only work in isolated areas were you can get rid of and completely destroy any evidence.

generally a man trap or whatever is pretty illegal.

part of it has to do with the fact that firefighter unions and such are pretty powerful.

Ooh, very good point. Stuck in a trap is definitely the last place one wants to be with a raging fire in sight.

Only $2300.00? Wow! You could probably sell that bad boy now for a $1000.00 profit.

Pardon the Quake reference, but that's the original BFG.

Have you had the opportunity to shoot that beast? What other guns do you have?

I'm looking for a semi-automatic .308 rifle. Any suggestions?
Have I had the opportunity to shoot it? Yeah, tons of times. I could go shoot it right now...

As for the .308, check out an AR-10. It's what I'd buy.

Why do you need to accessorize a vehicle or anything else for that matter?

I've had two experiences where I could have used violent defense in my home because of intruders. But I resolved it without having to use a firearm. But if needs be, its good to know I've got the backup ready to go. If you're smart about it, there's no reason not to have one...

This comment probably makes more sense than any other in this thread. Seriously.

Nice shotty Gramps. I'm looking into picking up this 870 for duck/pheasant hunting and skeet shooting later on this year.

Well, note I said the HOME had been robbed, not me :D

These B&Es happened years ago, back when I couldn't afford to live in safer neighbourhoods.
