shaft, I remember you had a pretty nice wall-mount for your bigger television, and a nice setup for the cable management and wall plates.
Where did you do your research to find out what companies/components to go with?

@rook
I found most of what I need I crutchfield.com and then compare prices to bestbuy or other online retailers. crutchfield has a pretty good
info page. I also read
avsforum, but that shit can be dangerous. I found myself nitpicking everything about a new tv over little things i wouldn't even have noticed. As far as the tv mount is my 3rd Sanus mount and I've been pleased with the other two I have, really solid. My last one was articulating, this one will just be mounted flat at desk level so no cable management needed.
Monoprice.com (best site ever) and Home Depot (Leviton) for wall plate stuff I went with open plate behind tv and decora/keystone behind receiver. If you're just running cables a short distance straight down to a/v stand below tv its simple and you can even use an open recessed plate to avoid extra cost of keystone jacks. My a/v stand is way on other side of room so i actually put power right behind tv with
THIS and then ran video cables up through attic. I ran an ass load of cables the first time...ive since rewired and just used 2xhdmi and 1 optical back to a video switching a/v receiver. Sorry, I'm rambling..hope that helped.

I just went to Best Buy and picked up a few things. Got a new hp wireless printer, a set of Razer gaming headphones, a Sony 12.1 mp camera and 8gb SD card.

If you're going in-wall look at Sonance. I've got them for my front stage and they are awesome.

Still waiting for the 1d mark iv. It's starting to trickle out in a few places around the globe, but not in the states yet. Should be any day now, but who knows how long it will be before I am able to get one even with a pre-order (I was 120th or thereabouts on the list at Adorama - going to try and pick it up somewhere else the day it comes out as well.) Been getting great reviews thus far - just read one from a professional sports photographer who used it at a football game and loved the new AF system. Now I need a 400mm f2.8 to go with it.

Perfect, thanks for the info.
I know what you mean about the avsforum. I read some threads there before I bought my tv too, and spending too much time sifting through those just gives way more info than most consumers need. At one point I was certain that I was going to have to hire somebody to come and calibrate my set if I wanted to be satisfied with it -- and this was before I had even settled on a model.

Heh, I've been shopping around for a couple of studio monitors and the crap that gets posted on the "pro" audio websites about that is ludicrous.
The presbyacusis paradox: by the time you have enough money to afford a really nice set of speakers, you will probably have lost enough of your hearing that you won't really be able to tell the difference....

I haven't bought anything really big this year. Biggest purchase was on a new router. Sale at $230 - $80 = $150 (wooo... big spender!)

i dont plan on using the tv as a monitor unless i get rid of one of the 24's. the tv was more for 360/ps3.
