it wasnt close. Floyd still kicks ass, as they showed 2nite. Even tho sir paul and stevie wonder came close, nobody could wear the jock strap of mighty floyd today

I LOVE that song, and yes, Neneh Cherry was THE one for the song.

On a different note, there was quite a lot of VERY badly out of tune singing today. Except joss stone, mariah and madonna, who sang great from what I caught of them.

Yeah, I caught that this morning and have seen various threads about it. Damn shame, was a marvellous singer.

i wasn't getting at you. it's just this and the G8 protests are all 'approved', which has me suspicious. i mean, when Tony Blair is having a big hug with Geldof, the guy who wanted kids to skip school to go protest at Gleneagles, it makes me think that this is no Seattle but instead just a safety valve - and safety valves are part of a system of control

I live within 100 miles of Edinburgh, but I couldn't persuade anyone to go with me...

:tear:

And I didn't fancy going on my own.
I live in Edinburgh. Stay at home! :icon23:

Don't judge that sort of thing too harshly. If you've ever played on stage with a big sound system you'll know what a pain in the ass it is when your monitors aren't loud enough. I'm not saying that was the case necessarily, but sound systems problems are usually the source of intonation "issues" rather than a lack of vocal talent.

FUCK! I can't believe I forgot about this and missed Pink Floyd. :tear:

Anybody know where I can find the Floyd performance? Possibly one with good sound quality? :(

Nothing but an exercise in mass population control and one world government domination by the ruling elite.

Erm, first of all, I have played on stages with big sound systems, and one that comes to mind was the crystal palace bowl in front of about 12,000 people. Secondly, when you're dealing with something as massive as live 8, the monitors will be as loud as the artist needs it. Artists like dido just can't sing that great and it really shows when she sings live. Mariah Carey sung beautifully and in tune.
