the missions are way too repetitive for a gta game and theres not enough different sidequests (compared to say Vice), but it was an awesome game.

might play again
I've done a second playthrough, paid more attention to the TV shows - they did some hilarious writing for some of those shows. The amount of content is pretty amazing.

The person who irritated me the most was Dwayne - calling to tell me he thought he missed my call - the guy seemed like a stalker.

I didn't watch a single TV show. It looks like I missed out?

I enjoyed the Ricky Gervais comedy.

Some are good - the space rangers is a pretty funny show, and there is a pretty funny history channel type documentary on the history of Liberty City.

yea, i stuck around for Kat Williams.

what sucked was that you cant skip the routines without your date going "boo we leaving already?". so ive sat through the same routines multiple times

I just finished The Lost and Damned and I'm pretty sure they intentionally made random cars and sports bikes undriveable for Johnny. They seem to make you WANT to ride a cruiser, staying in character so to speak. The exception being a few missions where you're forced to drive a car, in which they seem to handle normally. But some cars that were nowhere near this unstable with Nico driving are completely useless with Johnny.

Anyways, this was a great expansion

Was especially fun to see parts of the story where Johnny interacted with Nico [incoming spoiler alert] as well as the mission where you have to kidnap Roman. Brilliant interweaving. I expect The Ballad of Gay Tony will be similar.

Hmm, i enjoyed this game for a few weeks, then got bored with it and never touched it again.

Think it's mostly the lack of sense that you're building some kind of criminal enterprise: Vice City did this perfectly, with the locations you could take over or buy. Really helped with the idea of you slowly taking over the city and become some sort of kingpin.... don't know why they didn't put that in IV, seems like such a no brainer formula for greater succes to me :/

ryoki knows what he;s talking about. thats exactly the reason i think Vice is the bestest and GTA4 is a bit meh.

that and that GTA4 takes itself way too seriously :/

I never finished this game. It was fun for me and I enjoyed it for a few weeks, but there was just so much shit to do, too many people to "keep happy." I lost interest...

aye - there wasn't much of a feeling that you were having an impact on the world.

and the seriousness/underplayed comedy bugged me because the game was still really violent, the "won't somebody think of the children" crowd actually had a valid argument with this title because it seemed happy to be irredeemably sociopathic. all of the previous 3d gta games managed to strike a good balance between realistic storytelling and cartoon violence.

Vice City has been by far the best GTA game...

True, it's no Vice City, but it's great all the same. Having said that, although I really liked Nico and Johnny, Luis from The Ballad of Gay Tony seems like a very weak character so far.

I couldn't really get into it. The stupid cellphone kept on ringing and beeping with reminders to do things that I continually ignored (like in real life). What's the point of escaping to a fantasy world if it contains the same annoying shit as the real world?

I did like Portal tho. :D
