Post by SoM »

i've got a few video clips that are 716.666 KB in size, trying to burn em to a cd for playback with a stand alone DVD player, i've tried VCD/SVCD with nero but they both come out over 1 gig..

i know this might be a lil againts the rules, if so close it, but could u at least PM me the answer.

That's prolly cuz nero is converting the movie into a different format before burning (hence why it comes out larger). There are players that support 'pure' divx encoded media files... does yours?

You mean Mb not Kb, right?

Anyways, the reason it wont be working is as dz said, standalone players only support a number of formats, and that format is not one of them.

However, if you know your player WILL support the format, then burn it as a data disc, not a VCD. Then Nero will stop trying to interfere and re-encode the file.. which is what it's trying to do right now.

716.666 KB is what windows tells me, yes that 716 MB ;)

the other movie i burned was iirc constantine which were 2 CD's at around 700mb's and were both .avi's iirc and i burned it as vcd/svcd cant remember

so then how do i tell what format is a .avi / .video clip ?

i will try burning it as a data cd right now..

Try the utility 'gspot'. You can drag and avi into it and it will tell you what codecs are needed.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

AFAIK VCD and SVCD will not make a 700 Meg avi into ONE cd, unless the quality is ridiculously low.

Within Nero there is a feature called recode. Open this feature and it will burn it for you

Not really..

Dumbass here could have ripped his own DVD and might be trying to make backups for personal use.. Thus valid topic.

I do that quite often. I'll watch the backup and keep the original in good shape. Mostly with collectable type stuff.
