noisy graphics cards fans

Post by 4days »

the graphics card in my works machine is making a hell of a racket. cleaned off what little dust there was on it but it hasn't improved much.

how safe is it to poke/prod the fan to try and make it quieter? i never really think about what goes on inside the system box, so am a bit wary of fiddling with it.

Sounds like the barrings are going out in the fan.. Replacement time..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Aye replacement is the best option. The way those fans are set up isn't suitable for messing with.

You can get fanless cooling kits for a lot of cards and never stress about the noise again. What model is it?

What GPU?
I installed an ATi Silencer on my 9800 Pro. You could go that route.
