Domain registration
Domain registration
Anyone here ever bought a domain from a private owner? I have a domain I'm after for my cousin's business, and the owner of the domain seems agreeable to transferring it to me.. but how does one pay for these things in a manner that guarantees transfer? Are there middlemen which can be used?

is it a .com or a .co.uk?
nominet sorted out a .co.uk transfer for me a couple of months back (cost nothing and went through fine, but went on their books in case of any grief), internic might offer a similar service.
edit, btw it can get damn expensive if you do get into a dispute so keep the current owner sweet if you can.

Re: Domain registration
Don't all registrars offer a transfer feature? I recall it's easier for the seller to initiate the process. I have transferred domains to and from GoDaddy accounts without issues.

Also, the seller could stop the auto-renew of the domain, and you simply pick it up when available....Team effort, but it works.

Re: Domain registration
depending on the registrar, you might have to contact support and ask them directly for a domain transfer code. My peeps work that way.... couldn't find an option for it anywhere in the back end.
