Nope, Doom3 is fine..how ever it might have something to do with the face that 9200's arnt supported as a recommended video card for quake 4... :-(

It needs a minimum of a 9700 according to the official system requirements. Looks like its time for an upgrade.

If this was manifesting itself as a performance problem, I would agree. But it's not, it's a graphical error.

I think you'll have to wait and see for a week or two, that way more people with your card will get the game, and if it's a widespread issue (and it probably is) Raven will make an announcement and issue a patch.

So my advice is hold on.

Yeah i figured the same thing. unless its some kind of extra shader extension or something that wasnt in the earlier models? i really have no idea im just taking stabs in the dark.. also someone else on planetquake forums said he's having the same problem so might be a fix yet!

The problem is card manufacturers don't like supporting fixes for older cards that are not 'officially' supported by the game. I doubt they will want to fix your problem.

More like ATi will add the issue to their list of known problems, and fix it in a Catalyst release 3 months from now. :olo:

Yeah that's the only gripe I have with ati at this point. They release a driver once a month and lately they have been lacluster at best (minor game fixes, meh...)

While nvidia releases 2-3 a month (albeit being beta), but they all work great.

Enter r_renderer x in the console, substituting x for ARB, ARB2 or R200.

Not quite. Take a look here: http://wiki.doom3reference.com/wiki/R_renderer_(cvar)
EDIT: the forum screws up the link. Just copy and paste it into your browser's address bar.

r_renderer "ARB"
fixed this for me

On my Radeon 9000 Wonder.
But introduced new problem with light/dark faces, when half is bright and second half is dark.

Don' know yet how to fix that.
