Internet multiplayer setup...Help?

Post by agent_dess »

Hi guys,
Im having problems setting up an Internet multiplayer with some friends. Ive tried creating game via multiplayer > create.

But my friends cannot connect to me and vice versa. We have all port forwarded from our routers. When they try to connect to my game they get the following message:
"Awaiting Challenge 1,2,3,4 etc" again vice versa.
We all have the version 1.32

We can connect to other people's servers. All we want to do is have a private gaming session between the 4 of us.

We can get the multiplayer to work over a LAN, but we want to be able do it over the internet so that we dont have to drag our pc's round to each other house.

Your help would be appreciated greatly :q3:

You could check that the ports are really open:

If you have a crappy router, you can't be sure whether the portmapping works or not. My cheap d-link router doesn't work with q3, while a 3Com router I tried did. You could try using dmz, or connecting straight through the modem (with a software firewall, preferably).

Make sure both your software and hardware firewall (e.g. router) allow incoming and outgoing UDP traffic on port 27960. Use port forwarding, not port triggering.
