Code: Select all

Resolution…….………	640	800	1024	1152	1280	1600
High with all extras		43.1	43.1		   44.0 	41.4
High with no extras 44.6 42.0
Low with all extras
Low with no extras	45.0	44.9

800 res - Super low settings with 16 texture bumpdown 45.3
r_useindexbuffers=1……………………………………….		40.6
r_alphatocoverage=1……………………………………….		45.6
image_usercompressedtextures=0………………………		45.4
image_lod_bias = 0……………………………………….		45.6
r_forcediffuseonly=1……………………………………….		45.8
I don't get how all of these tests are so close together. I did these with a timedemo I recorded while playing dm8 on a crowded server with about 12 ppl on the map.

I can feel more lag when I play at 1600 res, but the timedemo doesn't really show much of a difference between everything maxed out at 1600 and the lowest settings at 640.

This is my setup:
P4-800fsb 3.0
9800 pro with Omega drivers
1 gig 3800 ddr

did you update that videocard from another? did you make sure you cleaned out the Old Drivers ( uninstalled ) before you installed the Omega's? And did you take a look at the Other thread involving ATI perforamce in reguards to Doom3/Quake4.

I didn't upgrade, this is the card I had when I reformatted a while back.

I did use driver cleaner when I installed the omega drivers so I suppose that shouldn't be a problem.

I saw a thread about the new 5.10a driver upping performance but I am 99% sure it won't help my card being so old, amiright?

heh- If i could get my brother out of the damn single player game, I'd update his drivers and see if it helps his 9800Pro any.

I get pretty much the same thing. Hardly any FPS change between 640 low and 1280 high. In my case, my cpu is holding back the full potential of my gfx card.

I think I found the problem. Some of us are using the old "timedemo" which apparently doesn't work right anymore? Using the command "playnettimedemo" seems to work. Give that a try.
