I'm pretty new to q3 and it seems that 80% of the servers I try to go in I haave to do like a 20-60 minute download. Is there a group of mods I should jsut download before hand. There just seems to be so many of them too. Blah I just want to play.
well, lots of baseq3 servers run "custom maps". it's probably vastly quicker to note the name of the custom map the game is trying to download, quit out of q3, google and d/l the map from the internet, then rejoin.
or just get osp and stick to osp servers. they use custom maps far less frequently with the exceptions of ctf (get the threewave map pack) and CA (why bother?).
