Hey all,
let me start off by saying I'm not so good at Q3 but I've done searches through this board, and read most if not all of the articles recently posted. I still can't get things to work.
anyway heres the MAIN issue:
i've installed q3point release into the existing q3 arena folder but i encounter a MAJOR PROBLEM: the game won't start at all !!!
what can be the cause of it?
note that before installing the q3point release the game was working properly...

This happens when the patch didn't install correctly for whatever reason. In this case, I would guess the new quake3.exe file that comes with the patch did not copy over the existing one correctly. Perhaps you had the game open when you patched it?
Anyway, reboot your PC and run the patch installer again. Make sure it installs to the correct folder.
After that it should work. If not let us know.
