Q4CTF puts the fun in fun

Post by clkou »

For all the nay Sayers about Quake 4 MP, when you get down to brass tacks, fun is fun. We scrimmaged Excite last night and we had 3 barn burner matches – the most exciting was this demo on Death before Dishonor. I think the game is exciting. Sure they could stand to improve something here or something there, but when you ring that bell, it’s just as good as any other installment if not more so.

So, I urge all of you to give MP a chance and play some matches. We’re always up for a scrimmage in #clan_goon on ETG.

Anyone else have some good Quake 4 CTF demos or interesting match reflections?

Btw, whenever I replay the demo, I noticed that one of our players, prk, is missing in the hud. Is this a bug that's been discussed before? I thought it was rather odd and arbitrary.

Related to CTF, I have noticed something that can be frustrating at times. It seems that the area to pick-up the flag is smaller than it appears. There are many times when I think I’ve picked up the flag when I haven’t. Similarly, jump pads and power-ups don’t trigger at times when I feel they should. Anyone else dealt with that?
