Quake 4 Pro Arena Mod looking for Members..

Quake 4 Pro Arena
This is a mod, that aims to be played by clans and free players as well.
Its not going to be just another x-battle/q4max clone.
Please before you say anything that belongs to my first try,
read this thread carefully. This time, it is all clarified.

We have the following Goals:
- add ~20 completely new Player models .. 3-4 will be remakes of older Q games.
- adapted Weapon Skins with HUD Colors.
- improved(not so visblocking) weapon effects
- enemymodels / enemycolors
- fov 20-150
- remove weapon shot-delay
- remove strogg/marine bound models.. every model is useable from every team.
- lots of Callvote options
- different playergibs available
- a Big Map pack
- jumping upstairs
- boxjumps
- adapting weapon shot volume
- adapting weapon hit sounds.
- simple items
- item pickup pictures/text.
- different footstep sounds for every model.
- better HUD
- a few new game modes, like oneflag ctf, domination, freezetag.
- detailed Stats
- more options for server admins
All Resources will be available to be used by other mods (when givin credits)
Well I can't release the whole source for security reasons,
but if you ask me for a special feature, I'll send you the code.

remaking older models is prolly not a good idea.
the Generations Mod for Quake2 got shut down for this - it wasnt until Q3 that they could continue since Q3 already had the old models in there
although im not quite sure what ids stand is nowadays

i didnt say all models were remakes, i just said that remaking older models is a bit touchy.
you could create a mod that uses all new content and sounds and everything, but if you as much as call it "Alien v Predator" itll get foxed. namsayn

Meh if its not CPMA, its not pro mode. It may be a competitive mod, which I think has been covered by Q4Max/XBM to be honest, but hey whatever floats your boat...
That said, as for the models all I can say are Sarge and Keel. :icon32:

No this mod is not planning to be a competition mod like q4max/xbattle.
our first goal is to give quake4 more individuality.
sure we want to add a few competition features, but thats not our main purpose.

Hmm well ok, you say you dont want to be a Q3 clone on your website but your features list other then double jumping is just q3.

I think it's a little premature to be going crazy with mod requirements right now anyway, since id have announced they will be releasing a patch that fixes some of the major MP problems people have complained about.
Why do the work to fix something that's going to be officially fixed anyway?
I'm not saying we shouldn't have some good mod teams starting work on stuff, but to release anything before the major patch is out just doesn't make sense to me.

I think you mean boxjumping, and I think that is just a bug as the
jumping up stairs thing, as I could fix it with only one line of code.

You're totally right! But you don't see, that this mod is different.
This mod is going to be very versatile. Lots of game modes and lots of server settings.
You can't tell me, q4max or xbattle is not different.
4.Sure there will be a patch, but who can tell if they fix all the things. They didn't say what they want to fix.
I'm going to study the code and try different things and game modes, until the patch is out.
Then I can decide, what still has to be fixed.
5. o'dium: WTF ?!?
That's like telling a lamborghini fan to drive a ferrari.
If lamborghini decides to create a new car, that doesn't have nice seatbelts,
or a nice steering wheel, would you say, that the user have to accept this ?
I don't want any aim shit in there btw, and I don't want to change the gameplay.
I just want to add more options, so server admins can adapt it easily to their needs.

I know, I don't like Q4 as it is... well not exactly.
lets just say, I like it, but I don't like a few makeup things.
Q4max is not going to change any of these makeup things,
So I probably won't like q4max!
Hell, Quake has always been famous for its various different mods, and you want to tell me to just use the original game or just a stupid mod, I don't like ?!?

Why don't we just take the mods as they come for right now? The week will die off and the versitile and fun will keep strong. I feel like the difference in this mod is that it will try to work with the community as much as possible. Besides, if you guys don't want this stuff then what do you want?

Just for some clarification, what you are calling "box-jumping" is one in the same as "double jumping".

pretty ambitious project, hope you hook up with another mod and work on things like weapon effects, the new player models, hud stuff, and sounds as most of the other stuff is already being taken care of.

@errant: No.. Doublejumping is when you jump and then by pressing
jump in the air, you can get even higher.. do a jump in mid air.
boxjumping only works on boxes/stairs, or other brushs, that are small/big enough.

Boxjumping = rampjumping + jumping on none sloped angles.

In quake 2 what you describe is called a double jump, no idea where this term box jump came from, jumping then jumping again is a ut2k* thing

Double jumping (with gained height) sure is older than UT2Kx. I guess QW had it and CPMA sure has it.

I tried this once, when I looked the first time for members, but I didn't even get one answer..
maybe that's because there is no job market for q4.
Also seems, they're stuck on doom3.. there's not much activity on the q4 forums.
anyway, I wrote some of them private messages, I guess that works better.

hmmm, no answers but people looking has to be a lot better than the trolling that seems to go on here.
Maybe this one will go down better because you have something to show, at least in the form of team members that have signed up... you *always* need to show something that can be seen as 'commitment'; I can't tell you how many "I've got a great idea" posts we get over there!.
Quake 4 runs on the *Doom 3 Engine* so unless something is specific to Q4 it'll get posted in the D3 section, that doesn't preclude it from being looked at. The more exposure you can get the better, even if it's just looking.
