Another Creative Audigy problem

Post by Nightshade »

So, for some reason every time I reboot my machine, it only sees that I have a pair of speakers. Quite odd, considering I have a decent Altec 4 speaker/subwoofer setup. Seems like only one output is working, because I can switch the cables and the sound switches speakers.
There used to be more diagnostic tools included with the SBLive!, but not so with the Audigy.

Any ideas?

Uninstall the current drivers completely then reboot and download the latest ones from Creative's site (the beta ones are pretty stable). I had the same issue once and this fixed it.

Well, it doesn't appear that it was the drivers. I tried them and I still have to keep manually selecting the correct configuration each time I reboot or log on. This is fucking annoying, and I don't think I'll be buying another Creative card after this.
At least I can get sound from all my speakers now, I was selecting Surround sound instead of 5.1 surround sound. :dork:

I remember this "sticky speaker" problem from a while back. It was quite common. If the latest drivers don't fix it I don't know any other solution, but you might check the creative forums cause I'm sure ppl posted about it there.

I had that with my last configuration.
I never solved the problem.

Luckly it didn't appeared with new OS install.
