so i finally got around to playing the SP game

Post by MKJ »

(and beat it). i must say, its quite good. it never felt dull.. its not the greatest thing either but when I played Doom3 I lost interest after 4 maps. not with this game. theres some great gamedesign in quake4, like when your pod crashes or when the guardian clings to the elevator.. textbook exciting moments right there.

i knew the ending would be short and gay.. i didnt mind it so much, apart from the cheesy *evil laughter* you hear after the dude says you got new orders.. i didnt quite get why that was "so evil" :(

oh well. fun game, felt like Q2 SP on some places, might play it again some day \o/

yep it's pretty good, although the general opinion (and mine as well) is that some of the vehicle bits weren't kinda dull.

like D3, it has its moments,
but.......
walk down a corridor into a room, shoot the baddies,go through another door, same thing,
gets kinda tediuos after a few levels.
the vehicle bits were ghey to the max

well its a quake game, what do you expect.
the difference with doom lies in 1 letter though:

baddies

I don't know I think I like the baddies better in D00M3, I guess it's because the game was completely created by id. They have that artist style unlike no other.

i expected it to more of a challenge tbh,
i feel its been "dumbed down"
the game play is nothing like Q2, and as i understand it,Q4 is suppose to follow on from Q2
edit:
dont get me wrong here,im an id fan boy from way back, but i find Q4 sadly lacking

heh, okay, I think he's talking about the number of enemies on the screen at once.

correct
q4 had action sequences galore. it also forced me to use more than just a (doublebarreled) shotgun. i actually used different weapon types throughout the game, something i never needed to do in Q2. one could kill pretty much every enemy with 2 Supershotgun blasts, and the occasional rocket launcher for the tanks. i did always use grenades though. grenades are fun
