Crouch Slide?
Hi TheTruthfulLiar, the "crouch slide" is a new feature of player movement (strafe jumping, ramp jumping, etc) added to Quake 4. If you start crouching as you land from a strafe jump, you will keep strafe-jumping speed for a short time. The shorter the delay between the time that you start crouching and the time that you land, the longer your "slide" speed bonus will last.
Okay, I've crouch-slid before but I'm wondering 2 things: Are people really getting more "air control" (I know, on ground) from sliding? I don't seem to be able to turn fast enough for it to work. Also, how do you successfully jump out of a crouch-slide? I find that I end up having to let go of crouch and hit jump real quick to keep speed but this doesn't seem like a very good way to do it. Is there a way to jump while crouched or am I missing something?

You you need to let go of crouch and press jump real quick for it to work, the ground control works with using the strafe keys on their own I believe, I havent really tested it well but have seen some pretty slick movement with guys sliding.
I had to alter my config so that jump is space and crouch is now mouse2 but I can slide and jump fairly well now.
EDIT: Had crouch and jump messed up in the first sentance.
