Hello,
As christmas + student loan will be coming in shortly I'm considering upgrading from my 1gb (2 x 512MB matched pair in dual channel) to 2gb. I have two options
1. Sell my current chips, and buy a 2x 1GB matched pair and play BF2 to my hearts content
2. Just sling in an extra gig stick, saving money but loose the dual channel support, but still play bf2 to my hearts content.
I'm trying to justify the price difference of both, and seeing if dual channel really does make a difference in games.

Ram Query
I would sell and upgrade, that's what I did.
With an Athlon 64 CPU, there are some memory controller problems with all 4 DIMM slots populated. Not only may you lose dual channel if you can't get similar DIMMs in there, but you'll have to change it to 2T timing and last but certainly not least, the RAM speed will probably drop to 333MHz.
I would bet if that's the case, you will be seeing lower performance with 2GB than 1GB.
So either 2x1GB or stick with what you've got.
