Weird problem: models without heads...

I see a weird problem in Q4 every so often.
The only fix is to exit and restart Q4.

The symtoms are:

1) some of the other players models have no heads. Yes, headless models.

2) Some names in the scoreboard are blank, also messages such as "You were fragged by" are center-justified with no player name,

3) In team DM CTF games some enemys have my team's model ( with the above model team indicator) . Some team members have enemy models.

One other player has complained about headless models and blank names in the scoreboard. So it is not just me.

How many others are seeing this?

Happens at odd intervals yes. And when it happens it seems to happen to everyone on the server.

It's usually triggered by someone joining, and you wont be able to see any new player's chat messages, obituaries or head models after that point.

I think it's Linux players joining games full of Windows players, but I've not bothered to check up on it.

Ok, I had something weird happen, similar to what Sturm was describing but on one of the new mappak maps. It's never happened to me before. I saw people who were supposedly on the opposite team with my team model, players with no names, and several times, I would shoot at someone who was supposed to be on the opposite team but was actually on my team. Must be a weird bug? Has anyone else besides Foo, STurm and I to have experienced this? Has anyone reported it to raven/id?

it is a known issue that we thought we had fixed and is incredibly difficult to repro reliably--there will be a fix in the next patch though
