so, how man times would you puke
so, how man times would you puke
before going to the doctor?
i don't have medical insurance, so i've been just kinda riding it out.
but since ~6am this morning i've emptied my stomache 10 times. (in 17 hours)
the first few were pretty violent, but now that i'm just tossing up water its not too bad... but the queasy ness hasn't stopped yet.
+ i'm all weak and achey.
not sure if I have food poisening or the flu... beef jerkey and orange juice was the only thing i'd had before it started though, so i'm kinda unsure about the food poisening angle.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. It's when you start puking up bile and dry hacking every 5-10 minutes that you should be worried. At that point you start losing bodily fluids pretty rapidly. I heard one wya to tell if a person is low on fluids is if their eyes do not tear up when they normally should. Anyway... Drink water if you haven't puked for at least 30 minutes, then some soup after an hour or two of no pukes.
i wouldn't go to the doctor for puking unless i had a bad fever that lasted more than 24 hours or was shitting blood or something like that.
I'd just force lots of fluids, maybe drink some pedialyte too.
That's not advice, just what I would be doing if I were puking.
And the flu is a respiratory infection, although stomach distress can be a major symptom, what you are describing sounds more like a stomach issue directly. Maybe some food poisoning. And if it is food poisoning, remember, what you ate that morning has nothing to do with it. Think back to yesterday. edit: Just saw the 'weak and achey' bit...that could be due to dehydration from the puking or maybe it is the flu.

That's pretty normal for a stomach bug. It usually goes away in one day.Dr_Watson wrote:before going to the doctor?

Try drinking some ginger ale. It's the only think my stomach can handle.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

hmm... the storm of vomit seems to have subsided. got some more sleep and was successfully able to eat some soup.
strange... i havn't yakked when it wasn't alcohol related since i was 15 and had a concussion.
but holy crap.. that was nuts.. i think that was a personal record of some kind. Its like my stomache just decided to take the hollidays off and close up shop.
wonder what caused it... since all i've eaten over the weekend is family meals and no one else got ill.

Thanks Dr. Stupid!Anthony clan dude wrote:Don't worry your not going to die but I suggest you drink alkaline fluids to dissolve the acid in your stomach.
Warning: This will make puking stop but when you take it you will have a bit of a puke which can contain blood but don't worry! It worked with me!

Watson it sounds like you might have a stomach virus. I got one once. I woke up in the middle of the night and threw up multiple times. I kept trying to drink water and liquids, but the virus lining my stomach or whatever caused me to keep throwing it back up. We called the doctor and what they told me to do was not eat or drink anything for a period of like 4 hours or so, then slowly drink a few sips of water or apple juice for a litle while then drinking more and more if it went down okay.

No that's really bad advice. If the person does have a stomach virus, taking anything in will just make it worse. Though yeah if the person's been not drinking or eating for like a day or something and it still causes them to throw up, then something's really wrongek wrote:heh, i dont usually go to doctors for throwing up. but the most important thing is for you to keep your fluid intake. keep drinking alot of water, and ocassionally have some toast or something, i know you cant keep it down, but its better to throw something up then heave air.
